BTS has protected 101,143 acres since beginning its relationship with Rainforest Trust in 2010.

BTS has donated a total of $112,431 since 2010. Mid 2015, the SAVES Challenge was initiated, providing various matched donations to projects. This brings the value of BTS’s contribution to $202,862 and the total number of acres protected to 101,143.

The Impact from BTS donations

  • The donation from BTS for 2022 alone protects 35,440,032 trees from deforestation.
  • Rainforest Trust began calculating the carbon in protected areas BTS supported in 2020. The acres saved in projects from 2020-2022 keep approximately 12,015,059 mT of carbon/C02e safely stored.

This year, the following is our featured project for Earth Day: Save 3.8 Million Acres of the Peruvian Amazon

The Peruvian Amazon is under siege by opportunistic forces grabbing land to extract natural resources and establish megafarms. Time is running out to protect these high-integrity forests and thousands of threatened species.

We need your help to save critical rainforest habitat in the vast Loreto region in northeastern Peru. An area the size of Montana, this ecosystem is under attack, driving imperiled wildlife like the Jaguar, Giant Otter, White-bellied Spider Monkey, Yellow-footed Tortoise and Lowland Tapir closer to extinction.

This Earth Day, together, we can safeguard over 3.8 million acres of tropical forest for species, the planet and communities before time runs out.

"The one process now going on that will take millions of years to correct is the loss of genetic and species diversity by the destruction of natural habitats. This is the folly our descendants are least likely to forgive us.”
