Wildfires and other climate change impacts are increasing in the Amazon rainforest, and millions of acres remain unprotected.
Our mission is more urgent than ever. Intact stretches of rainforest could be preserved as part of a private or government-designated protected area or safeguarded as an Indigenous reserve. Or they could be chain-sawed and burned to the ground for beef or soy. The stakes are enormous for all life on Earth.
The Challenge: Sustain Momentum & Build Resilience
Vast areas of the Amazon rainforest remain vulnerable to deforestation and the rising impacts of climate change. Sustaining and increasing our investment in the Brazilian Amazon will ensure this incredible rainforest is covered by lasting protections and resilient to future threats.
The Opportunity: Create Protected Areas and Support Indigenous Land Rights
The most sustainable, impactful conservation in the Amazon has community leadership at its core. For nearly 40 years, Rainforest Trust has worked to protect critical habitats in the Amazon, and much of our work focuses on supporting the traditional stewards of the land and the communities who have made their homes in the rainforest for generations.
Join Us to Protect the Brazilian Amazon
Every tree cut or burned to the ground brings the Amazon closer to an ecological tipping point from which the Earth cannot recover.
Every dollar donated to our Brazilian Amazon Fund goes directly to conserving this vital, vulnerable, and globally important rainforest.
Saving the Brazilian Amazon and Beyond
The Amazon is the world’s largest and most important tropical rainforest and some 60% of the rainforest lies in Brazil.
