Measuring only an inch in length, the Endangered Pickersgill’s Reed Frog—also known as the Avoca Reed Frog—is a tiny frog found only in scattered wetlands along South Africa’s east coast. Here, dense stands of reeds provide their only known habitat. Unfortunately, these wetlands are poorly protected; only two small sites had been protected before we and our partner—The Endangered Wildlife Trust—launched this project. Already, we have added two new protected areas through our work, with more in progress.

With your help, we and our partner have protected 326 acres for the tiny Pickersgill’s Reed Frog. An additional 499 acres are in the process of being protected. While this may seem a small area when compared to many of our projects, these 825 acres will protect an estimated population of more than 85,000 breeding adults.
