Lucy Read

Major Donor Manager

Having grown up in the Garden of England, Lucy’s passion for nature started at a young age. Every weekend was spent exploring the great outdoors and spotting the abundance of wild animals the Kentish countryside had to offer.

Following a rural upbringing, Lucy undertook voluntary and internship positions within several wildlife conservation charities, before securing a full-time major donor fundraising position. A trip to Kenya shortly after ignited Lucy’s interest in the impact of human-wildlife conflict. Alongside her fundraising role, Lucy completed her MSc in Wildlife Conservation in Tanzania’s Udzungwa Mountains National Park, researching the impact of elephant crop raiding on farming communities living alongside the park.

Her studies also took her into Malaysian Borneo’s lowland rainforests to document the effects of oil palm plantations on native wildlife. Having witnessed the significant human impacts on biodiversity in Asia and Africa, Lucy is now honoured to be part of the Rainforest Trust UK team in helping raise vital funds and awareness for our precious planet.
