Dr. Pantaleaon Kasoma

Panta Kasoma is a Wildlife Ecologist who has been in the environment and natural resources management field for over 30 years. He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Uganda’s Makerere University and his Ph.D. at Cambridge University. He left academia at Makerere University at the rank of Associate Professor. He represented the Africa Region on Birdlife Global Council for 4 years.

Panta worked as Uganda Country Director for the Jane Goodall Institute for nine years. Currently formally retired, he continues to participate in natural resources conservation by being Chair of the Board of Trustees of Uganda Wildlife Authority as well as being a trustee at the Environmental Conservation Trust of Uganda. He also represents Anglophone Africa on CITES Animals Committee.
