2009/2010 – The turtle Vitória (Vitó) was rescued by local fishermen, and several environmental activists were mobilized to start a Marine Turtle Conservation project in the municipality of São Filipe – Fogo Island. In 2010, the organization was formalized and began implementing the National Marine Turtle Conservation Plan.
2011/2012 – In 2011, the work was extended to the Marine Biodiversity Hotspot – Integral Nature Reserve of the Rombo Islets – Ilhéu de Cima and to the three municipalities of Fogo Island.
2015/2018 – Five more Conservation Programs were created: Seabirds, Endemic Plants, Environmental Education, Terrestrial Reptiles, and National and International Volunteering. In this way, we began working on 5 of the 10 islands of Cape Verde (Santo Antão, Boa Vista, Santiago, Fogo, and Brava) in addition to the islets of Rombo.
2019/2022 – The Organization receives institutional and organizational reinforcement, implementing an Organizational Development Plan. It grows consistently, consolidates Conservation Programs, creates Departments, and increases its technical team to 20 permanent staff. It receives national and international recognition and is decorated by the Presidency of the Republic of Cape Verde.
