Jane Johannsen joins Rainforest Trust as a Philanthropy Writer, bringing over a decade of development experience. Most recently, she served as Donor Relations Officer at the University of Hawai’i Foundation. Her diverse professional background also includes roles as a Senior Community Development Specialist for a regional planning commission, Director of Advancement for a sustainability-focused charter school, and a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ethiopia. Jane’s passion for conservation is rooted in her personal experiences: she grew up in the Ozark Mountains near the Mark Twain National Forest and is an avid ultrarunner and former thru-hiker, having completed both the Appalachian and Pacific Crest Trails. Jane holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Northwest Missouri State University. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, friends, and in her painting studio.
