José Urrestty has worked with our local Peruvian partner CEDIA (Center for the Development of an Indigenous Amazon) in the Matsés National Reserve since 2010, protecting pristine rainforests of the Amazon.
José has extensive experience in natural resource management, community conflict resolution and environmental legislation. He leads instructional training courses for future forest guards, ensuring the sustainability of project sites in Peru that provide critical habitat to key species like the Jaguar and Amazon River Dolphin.
“It has been a rewarding experience to see all the progress we have made in the last four years collaborating with local communities to protect the rainforests of the Matsés Reserve. I am eager to continue our work to preserve one of Peru’s national treasures.”
